Roof Mounted Systems

All roof mounting systems are made in Ontario, and consist of similar components. Aluminum rails which hold the solar modules are fixed to the roof using lag bolts (for flat roofs, there are non-penetrating options available) These systems keep the panels off of the surface of the roof, allowing for good ventilation of the hot air and flushing of water and debris underneath the panels. This will actually extend the life* of your roof underneath the solar array, as it is protects the surface from the sun (and converts that energy to electricity instead!) *If your shingles are more than five or six years old, you should consider re-surfacing the roof where the array will go prior to installation. This will ensure that the roof will not need to be resurfaced during the 25 – 35 year life of the solar array.

Shingle Roof: Kinetic Solar

For shingled roofs, we recommend Kinetic Solar mounting systems because of their use of a K flashing. This flashing covers the roof penetration, providing a mechanical seal that ensures there will not be any leakage.
